Path improvements in Hob Hey Wood

Updated: Mar 18, 2019

Our latest volunteer day (Sunday 17th March) we had planned to replace some of the mesh on the boardwalks that was getting a bit rotten. When we arrived, we found a bigger problem: recent heavy rains had washed a four inch gouge in the path just east of the main bridge, about 50 yards long. This was clearly a risk to walkers so we modified our plans somewhat and made temporary repairs to that path. The gouge was filled in and smoothed out. A temporary repair that will need further attention but a big improvement to what we found.

There were a couple of drains blocked with leaves that were helping to cause this problem. We cleared them so rain water can flow properly in future. We also replaced some of the boardwalk mesh as planned. It was great to meet two new volunteers (Hi Claire and Helen!) Further improvements are planned so if you'd like to get involved, contact us via email or our Facebook page.

This is what the path looks like after our repairs.
