Learn all about Hob Hey, Frodsham's ancient wood, how we look after it, and how to get involved.

About us

Hob Hey Wood Friends group was set up to look after Hob Hey Wood, ensuring it remains a beautiful place for both people and the wildlife that lives there.

Anyone can join the group: all are welcome.

Management Plan

There is a five year management plan in place for Hob Hey Wood. This is designed to protect the structure of the woodland, improve the biodiversity, native species composition and encourage public access by use of pathways only.

Today, Hob Hey Wood is a small area of woodland set in the valley of a small stream, surrounded by farmland. Hundreds of years ago, things were very different.

Next volunteer day

Our next volunteer day is Sunday 18th April. Unfortunately, we are restricted to six people and we've already filled those slots. We'll publish what we get up to on this website and our Facebook page, however.

Last volunteer day

Our latest volunteer day was Sunday 6th December.

This was our second planting day of 2020. We planted 220 trees, building new hedges defining boundaries in the wood.
