Help us protect and improve this ancient woodland for the benefit of the community and wildlife.

About us

Hob Hey Wood Friends group was set up to look after Hob Hey Wood, ensuring it remains a beautiful place for both people and the wildlife that lives there.

Anyone can join the group: all are welcome.

Management Plan

There is a five year management plan in place for Hob Hey Wood. This is designed to protect the structure of the woodland, improve the biodiversity, native species composition and encourage public access by use of pathways only.

History

Today, Hob Hey Wood is a small area of woodland set in the valley of a small stream, surrounded by farmland. Hundreds of years ago, things were very different.

Next volunteer day

Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, volunteer days have been suspended until further notice.

Last volunteer day

Our latest volunteer day was Sunday 16th February, in the middle of Storm Dennis!

However, the rain stayed away and we were sheltered from the wind so had a great morning.

We planted a small copse of silver birch trees after clearing the area as well as doing some drain clearance and litter picking.
